All I Wanted To Speak About CAT!

Too much hype for MBA these days thanks to the agressive marketing efforts by the coaching institutes!

The result is : CAT aspirants tend to forget the thin line of difference between passion and hyped obsession.

Months after months are spent, personal lives are put in danger, relationships are kept on gas, job productivity is made to suffer: Just to study for one hyped exam in which all that matters is how you performed in those 120 mins. ( Now 150 minutes). The journey towards CAT becomes a drudgery ,rather than being an enjoyable picnic of like-minded aspirants.
So much of mental and physical energy is spent , and if you don't score then the end result is frustration, depression and so on...

And the cycle continues in the next year just to satisfy your egos, just to tame CAT because a stupid classmate of yours tamed it and to achieve Moksha

What people tend to forget is MBA entrance starts with CAT and NOT ends with CAT!

I am curious about the post-CAT lives of the people who spent too much efforts for clearing CAT .How did they fare in MBA academics, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and post-MBA jobs? Just want to check whether they could put in so much of energy in post-CAT activities also or was CAT only one-off type act?

CAT season should be enjoyed. CAT is yet another exam.

That's all I wanted to speak about CAT!

I wont muse on this with my limited knowledge & my case of sour grapes...But a good read for all CAT aspirants..!! :-)

And as for the smileys...I got the PG smileys by a mere download & then upload...
As for the yahoo smileys....just do a search for blog emoticons...you should get a few sites/web pages which give u the HTML codes to use them on your blog...

Cheers..!!!

Good Post Anand. Must have required a lots of courage to come up with the ramblings exactly anti-to that of general populace. People like you who feels that CAT should not be taken too seriously - rather just as another exam prefer to remain silent.

I am curious about the post-CAT lives of the people who spent too much efforts for clearing CAT.

Isnt it too personal a statement? What if they start saying that we are curious to know about the lives of the person, who did not spent any efforts for cracking CAT and then cracked it and still faltered post-CAT.

...competition always result in such kind situation.
... i would like to add one thing: CAT is an exam highly discriminatory in nature to a large chunk of our population...that it gives no opportunity to candidates who know other important languages such as hindi, etc ... and as a consequence of it all english knowing candidates are highly benefited.

CAT has become an obsession because of the IIMs. People tend to think that every student in an IIM can get a $200,000 job abroad. I think it is all because of the media hype and the immaturity of the Indian media which does not know anything other than making things look bigger.

Marketing se duniya chalti hai... !!!

But one thing that is very true is that CAT is not the end of the world.

- Partha,
Ur would be junior at IIML!

@ritesh..CAT has become more of an elimination exam rather than selection exam...IIM Profs are very lazy, it's hight time to go the GMAT way!

@partha...Well said....Media has always been pea brained...All toppers go to Doc-Engg side. Guess who goes in media :)

Isnt that true about life itself, Andy? In our frantic pursuit towards making a living, how often do we forget the bigger picture - that is living life?
